Competitive Swim Team
Competitive Swim Team formally known as Fall Swim Team: is part two of a three-step process designed to help swimmers to transition to year round competitive USA sanctioned swimming.   Competitive Swim Team is an increased commitment of time and energy from the Pre Competitive Swim Team.  This team is open to swimmers 8 years or older who have completed the Pre Competitive Swim Team OR the Stingray class and have instructor approval.   Competitive Swim Team workouts emphasize highly refined racing technique, endurance training, and in workout racing to prepare for competitive swim meets.  The Competitive Swim Team meets August through May.
 

Equipment required: Goggles.  A competitive swimming front mounted snorkel and a pair of “positive drive swim fins” are encouraged. (These items are available at the Gold Medal retail store).


Price: $96.00/month. 18 swimmers:1 coach ratio. Coaches work with swimmers from the pool deck and in the water at the Gold Medal Swim School’s indoor pool.  This group uses real time underwater video to help increase a swimmer’s awareness of technical issues.


 

Practice schedule: Swim practices are held two days per week for one hour on Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday, or Friday/Sunday.


Meets: Swimmers are encouraged to attend Gold Medal Swim School Swim League.  Meets are 1x month excluding December, January, and February.  The swim meet fee, including up to four events and any earned ribbons, is $12.00/meet.  Pre-registration is required by the Tuesday preceding the meet and available online, Meet Entry Form.  Meet fees are auto billed to your account.  Competing at swim meets is expected as a member of the Competitive Swim Team.

Meets are held at McClintock High School in Tempe. 

 

 

Competitive team enrollment requirements:

1.  A passion and desire to swim at a competitive level.

2.  Willing to give there best effort each workout.

3.  Willingness to be a positive part of a team.

4.  Able to swim all four strokes at an advanced level.

5.  Swimming workout requirements:   


  • Swim 4 x 100 yd IM on 2:30 interval
  • Kick 1 x 50 yard underwater with fins (breathing at the wall) on 3:00 interval
  • Swim 200 yards continuously
  • Swim 750 yards (30 laps) in one workout
